Total Station Machine Control

Use total stations for earthmoving, milling and paving

Accurate positioning when satellites aren’t an option

LPS is total station-based machine control

When a higher-accuracy solution is required, or satellite access is prevented by heavy tree cover, buildings, tunnels, or other jobsite structures, LPS (Local Positioning Systems) can use total stations to provide precise location and height information.

Robotic total stations with 360-degree prisms mounted to your machine provide millimeter-level positional accuracy needed for applications such as:

  • Excavators
  • Bulldozers
  • Motor Graders
  • Cold milling machines
  • Asphalt pavers
  • Concrete pavers
  • Curb and gutter machines
  • Compact track loaders

Topcon machine control systems allow you to switch back and forth from GPS to LPS modes as satellites become a viable option again. Making the switch is as easy as swapping the prism for the GNSS antenna. The rest of the components continue to operate in their mounted locations.
